Excel or .CSV (Comma Separated Values) are the preferred type of database. Almost all Database systems, including File Maker Pro can output to CSV.

What fields should I include when putting together a database?

The fields required for a mailing or variable print job really depend on the level of variability and personalization that you want to achieve. With that said, Ampersand's programmers can do a lot of intricate personalization with very little data given the proper planning.

For the best results, we encourage you to engage us early on in the design process so we can help you get the most effective personalization out of your data.

For simple addressed mailings, the following fields are a good guideline:

1: Contact First Name
2: Contact Last Name
3: Contact Title (Optional)
4: Company Name (Optional)
5: Additional Address Line (Optional)
6: Address Line 1
7: Address Line 2 (Optional)
8: City
9: Province/State Code
10:Country
11:Client Phone Number (Optional)
12:Email Address (Optional)
