Let the adventure begin…
No idea how to specify production of a rigid box? No problem—we don’t expect you to. Our skilled production and design team will work with you to prototype and design the right form and style of rigid box for your purpose, whether it be a slip case style, book box style with a magnetic lock, clamshell, cigar style, suitcase style—there are lots of options and we can explain the pros and cons of each. Then we can work with you to determine how the box is lined and wrapped—we can wrap the box in full colour litho printed sheets, but fabrics, like silk, leather, and cotton, or other materials can be printed and wrapped as well. Closures can be magnetic, Velcro, as needed; we can produce inserts—custom cut foam, die-cut corrugated or folding carton—whatever is needed to fit the product. Specialty print effects like embossing and foil stamping—to give your box an opulent finish—can also be applied. There are a lot of options to customize a rigid box to best represent your product, and elevate your brand.
As part of the design process, we determine the box specifications, provide 3-D computer visualizations of the final product, and produce white samples or digitally pointed samples for prototyping and sign-off.
A great example is the rigid box we created for our client, Beadle & Grimm's
This project was a doozy. Beadle & Grimm's came to us with no idea of how to produce this.
This is a client that needed our help to realize their vision—and what a project! It was part of an entire product we developed and produced for them. Beadle & Grimm's design high end editions of Dungeons and Dragons encounters, which include a book detailing the entire campaign, campaign maps, a dungeon master’s screen, battle maps, encounter cards, miniatures, and custom jewellery and artifacts. All that in a book style rigid box that isn’t just packaging—it is the product. Beadle & Grimm's needed help speccing out all the components from books to playing cards, then the structural design to create a compelling package that fits all the components neatly as well as designing a heavy-duty corrugated shipping box that will ensure the product arrives safely. Ampersand also took care of all production, packing, and fulfillment. Finally, we distributed the game to Beadle & Grimm's customers who pre-bought the product.
The final product looks incredible, as befitting a high-end collectable Dungeons and Dragons Game Encounter.
In all the above, we do all of it. We take the pain of juggling multiple vendors and trying to coordinate them all off our customers' shoulders. And because we control the entire production chain, we can reduce time to market and often make up for lost time when an element runs off schedule or something unexpected happens.

This is a complex example of how we approach every project: we do all of it. We take the pain of juggling multiple vendors and trying to coordinate them all off our customers' shoulders. And because we control the entire production chain, we can reduce time to market and often make up for lost time when an element runs off schedule or something unexpected happens. For our clients, one call does it all.
If you have a complex project, bring it to us and we will work with you to find the optimal way to realize your vision.
